Morrison Foerster Continues Private Equity Expansion with a Partner in Tokyo

Morrison Foerster has added Naoya Shiota as a partner in the global Private Equity Group in the firm’s Tokyo office. His arrival further enhances the firm’s international private equity capabilities in Japan, and complements its 50-strong team of corporate/M&A attorneys in Tokyo. Shiota brings 20 years of experience advising global private equity funds and Japanese corporate clients on cross-border and domestic acquisitions and disposals. He has substantial experience in both M&A and finance, counseling clients across a breadth of different mandates, including acquisitions of private companies, tender offers and going-private matters. He arrives from a major US-based global law firm, where he was a partner in its corporate/M&A group. Shiota holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo, and Master of Laws from Cornell Law School. He is admitted to practice in Japan (bengoshi) and New York, and is fluent in both English and his native Japanese.
