Former general counsel and In-House Community thought-leader Evangelos Apostolou has joined executive search firm Major, Lindsey and Africa as an international in-house consultant.
Based in London and Singapore, Apostolou will focus on recruiting in-house general counsel and providing expert advisory services to corporations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
“This is an exciting opportunity to use my experience to help organisations source GCs that will lead and transform their in-house legal functions at a time of unprecedented change for the legal profession and the in-house community,” says Apostolou.
In conjunction with the In-House Community, Apostolou developed the In-House Development Model, which provides a unique and practical method by which in-house counsel can benchmark their legal team’s development in six main areas: business alignment; technology; communications; resource strategy; operations & infrastructure; and spend management.
He will continue to participate in In-House Community events, including our pre-awards workshop on Thursday, May 10 at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, along with co-presenter Stephen Kitts, Asia managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland.
Apostolou brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having lived and worked internationally in India, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Middle East, in addition to the UK, where he is qualified as a barrister and a solicitor. He was previously an equity partner and general counsel of Ernst & Young in Asia Pacific and chief counsel for Asia Pacific at British Telecom. He has also served as a principal of an Ernst & Young law practice member firm in Southeast Asia and as EMEA president for one of the world’s leading contract management software houses. He is an accredited mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and has taught as an adjunct law professor at both the National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University.
