| International firm Pillsbury has acquired Thelen’s China practice, a group of approximately 20 attorneys. Partners from Thelen will be based in Pillsbury’s Shanghai, Washington DC and San Francisco offices.
Recent departures from Thelen sparked much debate on the future of the firm, in particular after rumours circulated that the firm had canceled their 2009 summer associate program. The sale to Pillsbury marks the second long standing San Francisco firm to shake up the legal market in recent weeks, the first being Heller Ehrman with its announcement that the firm was to dissolve. Thelen was founded in the city in 1924. |
