| Only 17 percent of Hong Kong legal executives said they expected headcounts to increase in the coming 12 months, according to the results of the Hudson Report for Q4. The survey of executives across key business sectors found hiring expectations at their lowest since 2001 and still falling. With eleven percent of employers in the legal sector indicating a likelihood of headcount cuts, the city holds the distinction of the steepest headcount drop in Asia overall, across all sectors. In another indication of the impact the current global economic environment may have on the city, just 1 percent of respondents indicated they planned to pay more than 20 percent of salary as a year end bonus. In Q1 2008, the figure was 30 percent. |
