A winning collaboration: Azmi & Associates and RBS join forces

Malaysian based firm Azmi & Associates and Indonesian founded practice Riza Benny Suyudono (RBS) have joined forces to meet escalating demands from regional clients and to tap a wealth of opportunities on the cross-border front. Both firms specialise in commercial and corporate work and are recognised for offering a full suite of services in their markets.

The collaboration was conceived on 15 March 2013 and is fairly unique as it is only the second time a Malaysian and Indonesian firm have teamed up to boost their resources and know-how. Deepening their collective bench of experience is certainly one of the advantages to the marriage, but the collaboration was also driven by a desire to expand their collective contact points with local and global clients, according to Septiansyah Q Riza and Benny Pratikno Suyudono, the forces behind RBS.

A combination leveraging resources and networks is not altogether surprising when considering the growth taking place, particularly in the capital markets and Islamic finance space, in Malaysia. According to Senior Partner, Dato Azmi Mohd Ali, of the eponymous Azmi & Associates, Indonesia’s economy is “growing at a breath-taking speed and Malaysian law firms ought to facilitate … trade and commerce opportunities.”

The collaboration will also enable the secondment and mobility of lawyers between the firms’ Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore offices in order to cover a burgeoning number of cross-border transactions.
