Lion City based firm capitalises on FDI in Myanmar

Following in the slipstream of a number of Singaporean based firms who have launched outposts in Myanmar, WongPartnership opened its office in Yangon on 23rd June. Joining a clutch of well-known firms: Rajah & Tann, Allen & Gledhill and Colin Ng & Partners, amongst others, WongPartnership has launched a presence in the commercial capital with a view to leveraging the rising tide of foreign direct investment and a multitude of business opportunities emanating from Asia’s rapidly growing emerging market.

The firm specialises in corporate, finance, capital markets and M&A matters as well as litigation and arbitration, and it is expected to add construction, hospitality, agriculture and fast-moving consumer goods to its areas of expertise in the former pariah state.

Rachel Eng, joint managing partner of WongPartnership notes that “the international business community’s interest in Myanmar is unprecedented” and that their “office positions the firm to be right there where the action is.”
