| The International Court of Arbitration (ICA) has chosen Hong Kong as the site of its first overseas office. In announcing the move, the Court pointed out the likelihood of more trade disputes amid the global economic turndown, which in turn will lead to an increased need for arbitration centres in Asia in particular. Hong Kong’s proximity to Mainland China and other Asian countries, its stable legal environment and large number of professionals were sway factors in the decision. Singapore, meanwhile was not overlooked, with the Court announcing an intention to open a liaison office in the city-state. |
