| A previous executive director of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), India’s securities regulator, has returned to private practice with the formation of a new boutique financial sector law firm, Finsec Law Advisors. The new firm, which recently commenced operations in Mumbai, is led by Sandeep Parekh who, during his time at SEBI, was head of the regulator’s Legal Affairs and Enforcement departments. He was also a member of various committees including the SEBI Committee to study the future of Regional Stock Exchanges, and was chairman of the SEBI sub-committee on integrated disclosure. An experienced securities lawyer who has practised in Washington DC and India, Parekh focuses on securities regulations, investment regulations, private equity, corporate governance and financial regulations. He has also been a visiting associate faculty at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. Parekh is joined at Finsec by KD Zacharias, the former legal head of the country’s central bank – the Reserve Bank of India – who has taken the post of senior advisor at the firm. |
