The callous suicide bombings in Sri Lanka on Sunday killed more than 300 people, including Anita Nicholson, an in-house lawyer at Anglo-American in Singapore, and her two children.
Her husband, Ben Nicholson, who is a partner at Kennedys in Singapore, was injured in the attack but survived. The family were staying at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo, which was one of six targets struck by terrorists in a coordinated attack.
“I am deeply distressed at the loss of my wife and children,” he said in a statement. “Anita was a wonderful, perfect wife and a brilliant, loving and inspirational mother to our two wonderful children.”
During her career, Anita had worked in Singapore as an in-house lawyer at BHP Billiton and BP, specialising in regulatory and compliance. Before that, she had been senior regulatory lawyer at the Treasury in the UK and started her career at DLA Piper in London.
The In-House Community would like to express its condolences to Anita’s family and everyone affected by the attacks in Sri Lanka.
