 There was a strong turnout for the June 15 launch party for Women in Law Hong Kong (WILHK), with an inspiring address from Gill Meller, Legal Director & Secretary of MTR Corporation Limited on ‘Lessons for Women in Law and Life’. WILHK was launched with a mission to provide a networking platform for women in the legal profession, encourage collaboration, integration and education, foster the development and retention of women in law and to bring to the forefront issues affecting women working in the profession in Hong Kong. “Whilst a number of successful female networks have recently been established in Hong Kong, there has been a gap for a united network which is open to women in all sectors of law. WILHK is one of the first female networks established to integrate not just women in particular legal sectors but to operate as an umbrella network for all women engaged in the Hong Kong legal profession – including both in-house and private practice lawyers.” commented Nina Fitzgerald, Chairperson of WILHK and a Senior Associate with Herbert Smith Freehills. Crystal Antica, a Senior Associate with Hogan Lovells and Vice-Chairperson of WILHK, added: “Through mentorship programs, events, training and the promotion of best practices, we aim to achieve our mission and provide leadership opportunities, collaboration, education, exchange of ideas, friendship and mutual support amongst members.
