O’Melveny partners have stepped into new roles as vice chair, leaders of practice and industry groups, and managing partners for firm offices, among other appointments. The new leadership appointments showcase the talent and depth of the firm’s partnership.

“One of the distinguishing qualities that makes O’Melveny such a special place is our commitment to providing meaningful professional development opportunities to our partners by regularly refreshing our leadership ranks,” said O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin. “We are grateful to have so many talented individuals ready to take on these important new management responsibilities with energy and enthusiasm.”

Matthew W. Close has been named a vice chair of the firm, succeeding Mark Samuels. Close’s previous leadership experience includes serving as co-chair of the firm’s Securities Litigation and Financial Services Practice Group and as a member of the firm’s Policy Committee.

“I cannot thank Mark enough for his immeasurable contributions to our firm over his long and distinguished career. And I’m confident that Matt will serve with distinction, as he picks up the baton from Mark and steps into the role of vice chair,” Butwin noted.

“With his client-centric ethos and a deep commitment to O’Melveny’s values, Matt is among the most acclaimed and respected lawyers in his field, and a worthy steward of this vital position,” he added.

Along with serving as a vice chair of the firm, Close will also join O’Melveny’s Management Team, as will partners Allen Burton, Jeeho Lee and Jeff Walbridge.

In addition, O’Melveny named seven new practice and industry group leaders, namely Courtney Dyer and Michael Tubach (Co-Chairs, Antitrust & Competition), Dawn Sestito (Co-Chair, General Litigation), Leah Godesky (Chair, Insurance), Alex Anderson (Chair, Tax), and Matt Cowan and Jennifer Sokoler (Co-Heads, Colleges & Universities Industry).

The firm also appointed new managing partners in seven offices, namely Stéphane Frank – Brussels, Brittany Rogers – Los Angeles, Tony Wang – Newport Beach, Ross Galin – New York, David Eberhart – San Francisco, Stephanie Keen – Singapore and Tristan Morales – Washington, DC.
