With its new appointments, Rajah & Tann Singapore demonstrated its concerted effort to groom the next generation of leaders-partners in their 40s engaged in key practice areas.
Effective April 1, international arbitration, construction and projects specialist partner Ng Kim Beng and international arbitration practice and South Asia desk head Kelvin Poon assume responsibilities as Joint Deputy Managing Partners, replacing Rebecca Chew who is now Chairperson of the Rajah & Tann Foundation overseeing the firm’s corporate social responsibility programme.
Adrian Wong succeeds Leong Kah Wah as Head of Disputes, while Vikram Nair takes over from him as Deputy Head. Over at Corporate, department head Abdul Jabbar gets another number two, Sandy Foo, who joins Evelyn Wee as Co-Deputy Head.
The corporate and dispute departments promoted 13 and 12 partners, respectively, to lead the firm’s wide range of specialist practice areas as heads and deputy heads.
Four new partners join the Executive Committee, helmed by Managing Partner Patrick Ang who commences his second term as Managing Partner of the firm. They are Sim Kwan Kiat, Tracy Ang, Vikna Rajah and Shuhei Otsuka.
“Rajah & Tann has a culture of embracing change and having each generation of partners investing in and building the firm for the next generation. The appointments today are the fruits of the labour put in by the firm’s more experienced partners who have selflessly nurtured their younger colleagues,” Mr Ang said.
“The new practice and sector leadership comprises partners in their 40s who are able to inspire their colleagues towards shared goals, most important of which is to deliver consistently high levels of service to clients,” he added.
