In commenting that both firms “shared a [common] ethos for delivering unstinting high quality to their clients,” Senior Counsel and Senior Partner, Alvin Yeo of WongPartnership was remarking on the recent tie up with Foong & Partners, a boutique Malaysian practice. The alliance comes on the back of “closer economic relations between Singapore and Malaysia” and a greater number of cross-border deals in the legal sector, according to Yeo.
WongPartnership is a prominent full-service firm which was founded in Singapore over two decades ago. It has additional footholds in Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Doha and Shanghai. Foong & Partners, a firm which was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2003, focusses its practice on high-end corporate commercial and corporate finance work. The tie up has been forged with a view to catering to higher demand in cross-strait investment. In the course of the alliance, the two firms will combine their collective cache of experience, expertise and regional capabilities. Foong Chee Meng, Managing Partner of Foong & Partners stated that “the firms had similar, yet complementary skills and experience on both sides of the Causeway.” |
