ZICO celebrates 30 years with charitable donation

ZICO celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and, as part of the celebration, the firm donated M$30,000 (US$7,364) to Yayasan Orang Kurang Upaya Kelantan (Yokuk), a charity that the firm has long supported.

Otherwise known as the Kelantan Foundation for the Disabled, Yokuk was established 18 years ago to alleviate the plight of people with disabilities in Kelantan, one of the poorest states in Malaysia.

Today, it has a committed staff of 25 nurses, therapists, teachers and others affecting and impacting the lives of more than 4,500 families in the state.

Yokuk provides therapy and welfare services as well as educational support for children and adults suffering from various forms of disabilities from Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy to other physical handicaps and types of disabilities. Besides the disabled community, it also takes care of people with life-limiting conditions, such as those in the final stages of cancer or stroke victims who are bedridden and have been sent home from hospital. Yokuk provides its services free of charge and depends on the generosity of donors to help sustain its work, which amounts to around M$700,000 a year.

Please see Yokuk’s corporate video at: www.yokuk.org, as well as other details about the charity.
