Our special thanks go to: Co-Hosts: Sponsors: Our, fourteenth annual Seoul In-House Congress event, hosted at the Lotte Hotel on August 31, 2016, brought together over 200 of our community members and co-hosts for a day of practice area workshops, networking and discussion. Following an introduction to the key concerns voiced by our Seoul members (namely ‘talent and career management’) presented by In-House Community director, Patrick Dransfield, the day began with an engaging panel discussion set-up and led by Evangelos Apostolou, former general counsel and partner of EY, Asia Pacific and BT Global Services vice president and chief counsel, Asia Pacific, to discuss “In-House Lawyering: uncovering the relationship between Quality, Cost and Value”. Providing debate and insight were Jackson Pek, vice president and general counsel, Asia Pacific, Amadeus IT Group, who introduced a simple but effective model to measure the ‘value of in-house legal teams’; along with Sue Lynn Koo, general counsel, Coupang; Ji Kim, general counsel, POSCO Energy; Jay Im, partner, K&L Gates; June (Junghye) Yeum, partner, Clyde & Co; and Jai Wook Lee, senior foreign counsel, Yulchon. Subsequently, delegates attended a series of vital workshops on their chosen topics ranging from discovery, disputes and corporate governance to IP, JVs, M&A and fair trade, presented by Bae, Kim & Lee, Clyde & Co, Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, K&L Gates, Lee & Ko, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Yoon & Yang and Yulchon. We would like to thank our above mentioned co-hosts, as well as our sponsors – FRONTEO, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Hughes-Castell and Major, Lindsey & Africa – and our attending Seoul In-House Community chapter for making the event such a success. “The Congress was an excellent, quality event for in-house practitioners who need practical and on-point advice” |
